A Habit of Purity in a Pornographic World
New Revised Edition
By Rick James

Flesh, A Habit of Purity in a Pornographic World was written for Cru over ten years ago, which is why it needed to be rewritten. A lot has changed in ten years. Everything has changed in ten years.

There’s a glut of men’s books out there, so what’s different about Flesh? The difference is it’s written to and for Cru. That means it’s Christ-centered. That means it’s built on a biblical framework not a therapeutic one. That means it’s mission-minded—not advocating for a decade of convalescence until purity is achieved. It also means that the model of growth is Spirit-filled, missional, community, and not self-discipline/virtue ethics. For Cru, by Cru, about Cru.

As a Cru resource it also creates common currency among students as they interact at conferences and on projects. There’s a conversation already in place.

Flesh has been thoroughly rewritten with added chapters and like the first edition there’s a one-month devotional as well as Small Group content.

Among topics addressed are: Habitual Sin, Homosexuality, Masturbation, Guilt, Repentance, Porn, Worship, Evil and Temptation, Faith, Biblical sex, and how Jesus fits into all of it.
