A Guide for Young Children Whose Parents May Have Combat Trauma

Written by Sherry Barron

Cru Military introduces Book 1 of 3 for children whose families are experiencing Post-Traumatic Stress.

My Hero’s Home!! is a coloring book for K-3rd grade children, which tells the story of Cody and Carrie as they discover how and why combat trauma is affecting their family.

Explore how God brings the answers to healing, better family relationships, and a brighter future for families struggling through combat trauma.

Included are activities for children to personalize their story, learn about and contribute to a positive atmosphere in their home. Parent’s pages, with helpful information for Mom or Dad, open up opportunities for the parent to talk their child about what is happening in their home.

This is Book One in a series of children’s books produced by Cru Military. The second book, Helping My Hero!! is for 4th-6th grade children, and the third book, My Hero Hurts!! is for teenagers. All the books follow the same structure used in the book When War Comes Home, by Chris and Rahnella Adsit and Marshéle Carter Waddell, which is a workbook for wives of combat veterans dealing with PTSD or TBI.

How does one explain combat trauma to small children whose hearts are already hurting? My Hero’s Home! is an inviting, easy-to-use tool full of stories, cartoons, activities, and more, all designed to gently guide and encourage young children whose parents may have combat trauma. Invaluable.
~Jocelyn Green, author of Faith Deployed: Daily Encouragement for Military Wives and co-author of The 5 Love Languages Military Edition (with Dr. Gary Chapman)

I love this book! It is really so much more than a coloring book. The activities and guidelines are easy to follow and implement. Biblically-based activities and fun printables help children communicate feelings in a safe and positive way.
~ Karen Frandsen, Karen’s Kids Studios

An amazing tool for knitting the hearts of Moms and Dads with their children during post-deployment hard times!
~ Tim Burke, Special Forces, Retired

This looks just like Daddy!
